Mike Clare is Executive Chairman and founder of Dreams Plc, Britain’s leading bed specialist.  Dreams has grown from Mike’s first bed shop based in Uxbridge in 1987 to a current portfolio of over 120 bed superstores throughout the UK with a turnover in excess of £130m. The company has expanded at an average of over 30% p.a. for the last 5 years and Mike’s passion and vision for expanding Dreams with more UK stores (plus overseas franchises) and entering new markets is as strong as ever.

He was awarded Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2002 and Dreams has won the Furniture Retailer of the Year award a record three times.

Mike is a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, a Freeman of the City of London, President of the Furnishing Trades Benevolent Association, Board Director (Non Exec) of the British Retail Consortium and Trustee of The Buckinghamshire Foundation

Born in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire where he still lives with his wife and four children.  Mike worked his way up through the management ranks of retail furniture companies like Williams, Hardy’s and Perrings before starting Dreams in 1987.
